I am co-founder and artistic director of the Prop Thtr, one of the oldest storefront theaters in Chicago, founded in 1981.  We are a theater devoted to new work and new workers in performance.  We reach beyond just new plays, while being committed to their development and continued life, to innovative and cross-disciplinary forms of live performance.  I have always considered myself a maker more than a theoretician or producer.  My formative years, after study at Columbia College, were spent as an intern at the Berliner Ensemble and the Schaubuhne in Berlin, as an assistant director there and in Wurzburg, Bonn and Frankfurt and as a house director for the Schauspiel Bonn And Frankfurt.  I also have worked as a director on a television series for RTL television in the mid 90s.  Currently my family - I am married to Jenny Magnus and my eight year old daughter is named Lena - resides in Chicago and our theater comprised of two performance spaces, offices and some studio space fills out my life.
