
May has directed and developed work at Williamstown Theater Festival; The Public Theater; Second Stage Theatre; New York Theater Workshop; The Hangar Theatre; Long Wharf Theatre; Partial Comfort Productions (Time Out NY Critics pick); Midtown International Theater Festival (Best Solo Show); Ensemble Studio Theater. Awards: SSDC Denham Fellowship; Van Lier Fellowship, NYTW Fellowship, SDCF Observership, and Drama League Directing Fellowship. She is currently in residency at The Lark Play Development Center as the recipient of the TCG New Generations Grant, an opportunity that allows her the resources and flexibility to develop her artistic leadership skills and management expertise. At the Lark, she manages the Core Artist Programs which offer sustained support for over 130 artists; plays leading role in the strategic thinking and planning of community engagement initiatives, and works as a director for several artistic projects at The Lark. Prior to the Lark, May worked as an Artistic Associate at The Public Theater/New York Shakespeare Festival from 2006-08, where she played a leading role in the development of the Public's classical acting program, The Shakespeare Lab, as well as the education and community outreach efforts. She line produced the annual event, Summer Shake Up, at the Delacorte Theater, which serves over 500 teenagers from each of the five boroughs. She also line produced the Community Partner Program, a series of Shakespeare performances and educational workshops. She produced events in Jamaica, Queens; New Lots, Brooklyn; Hunt’s Point, Bronx and at The Public Theater, Manhattan.
May has been an active member of the New York and International Theater community, participating in the following think tanks and panels: International Theater Institute conference; TCG/ITI Think Tank; ITI Young Practitioners Committee; No Passport conference participant; the New Dramatists Princess Grace panelist, Whitfield Cook Prize panelist, SSDC/Kennedy Center International Exchange; New Play Development Summit; Drama League Diversity Council. She is on faculty at The Public Theater’s Shakespeare Lab. She teaches and directs at NYU, Maggie Flanigan Studios, Fordham University and Bard College.
