June Ballinger is in her thirteenth season as Producing Artistic Director at Passage Theatre in Trenton, New Jersey which is dedicated to developing and producing stylistically adventurous new works for the theatre that entertain and challenge a diverse audience. Prior to becoming a theatre leader she was an actress at numerous theatres nation wide including The Actors Theatre of Louisville, Great Lakes Theatre Festival, Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, Eureka Theatre, Primary Stages, New York’s Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Kennedy Center and Broadway. Following her longtime association with New York’s 52nd Street Project, June originally came to Trenton to create a replication of that project for Trenton believing that a strong commitment to community is essential to any theatre’s success. Her main interest now is in exploring the “residential” theatre company or examining the business models of theatres that use a local network of professional actors from which to cast - an alternative to casting from NYC, the model that until the 2010 season, was in operation.
