Jennifer Shook is the Artistic Director of Caffeine Theatre, where she most recently dramaturged Wild Nights with Emily and has directed Tallgrass Gothic, Translations, Like the Moon Behind the Clouds, The Cure at Troy, Ion, Silva, Doña Rosita, The Cocktail Party, and Sailing to Byzantium. She has taught at The Theatre School at DePaul University, Columbia College Chicago, Roosevelt University, and the Newberry Library. She holds degrees from the University of Chicago, Swarthmore College, and University College Galway. As a dramaturg or director, she has worked with the Goodman Theatre, The Hypocrites, Steppenwolf, TimeLine Theatre, Silk Road Theatre Project, Eclipse Theatre, Estrogen Fest, Collaboraction, Circle Theatre, Dallas Theater Center, Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, Court Theatre, and the San Francisco Mime Troupe, among others. Jennifer is an Illinois Humanities Council Road Scholar, a member of the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas, and an alum of La MaMa Theatre’s International Directors Symposium.
