Janet Stanford

Janet Stanford has helped transition Imagination Stage from a community-based arts organization to a nationally significant regional theatre for young audiences and comprehensive arts education program. She has commissioned 35 new works for children from American and international playwrights including Karen Zacarias, Joan Cushing, David S. Craig and Charles Way. Many of these new plays and musicals have gone on to be produced at other TYA theatres in the USA and as far away as China. Janet travels widely to international festivals seeking artists to collaborate with at Imagination Stage. Most recently, she has partnered with the Italian/British Company Lyngo and is devoting her energies to creating plays for the very young.
