
Hallie Gordon: Along with selecting the Young Adult Season Hallie has launched the Young Adult Council program at Steppenwolf five years ago, three years into her tenure at Steppenwolf. As Educational Director for Steppenwolf for Young Adults, Hallie has worked closely with the Chicago Public Schools to create an environment in which all students and teachers have access to theatre. As a theatre artist she has directed the world premiere of Harriet Jacobs and a new premier of Toni Morrison The Bluest Eye both adapted by Lydia Diamond. Which won a Black Excellence Award from the African American Arts Alliance of Chicago. The Bluest Eye also transferred Off-Broadway to The New Victory Theatre. Hallie most recently directed a new adaptation of The House on Mango Street by Tanya Saracho for Steppenwolf for Young Adults. She has directed staged readings at The Goodman Theatre, Chicago Dramatists and Steppenwolf Theatre Company. Hallie is also currently serving as the Artistic Director of the Chicago Park Districts Theatre on The Lake. And is the recipient of The Helen Coburn Meier & Tim Meier Achievement Award.
