Notes from other sessions?

Tuesday, June 29 at 03:28PM

Hello All -

One of the great problems of TCG is that there are far too many interesting events happening at the exact same time. During each breakout session, there were probably four or five different events I would have liked to have attended. So, as a full believer in the Arts Learning Continuum and in the collaborative instincts of my colleagues in this field, I'm posting here a list of sessions I wish I had attended. If you have any notes from any of these, would you consider passing them on?

Many thanks!

David Stradley (david@davidstradley.com)

Hi David,

For Ten Chimneys Foundation’s Lunt-Fontanne Fellowship Program, you can find a lot of in-depth information at www.tenchimneys.org/fellowship - including a journal of the inaugural year with Lynn Redgrave.  There are also some wonderful mini-documentaries (highligh reels) at www.youtube.com/tenchimneys.

The second year of the program starts in less than two weeks; its a very exciting time at Ten Chimneys.  Thank you for your interest.

Yours,

Sean Malone

"Theaters Becoming Centers"

I was part of the panel and uploaded some relevant info about Bedlam as  "handouts" on the session page - http://tcg-2010.conferencespot.org/talks/5843

"Cross-Sector Synchronicity" (my favorite session)

  • get to know the community, communities, new and different people, find out from them why theater is relevant
  • don't seek partnerships you're not ready to have develop into relatonships (investment)
  • the audience is, ideally, going to impact the art - sometimes that's subtle, sometimes that's overt - how do you want to embrace it seems like the question.
  • if we're seriously concerned about audiences dying and interested in innovation, and want to do something about it as a "field" - we have to figure out how to celebrate the differeneces - the differeneces between theaters - the difference between plays - art and artists that don't fit the preconceptions - when the results are fantastic and even sometimes when the results are clunky.

For "10 Warning Signs," they had a Powerpoint presentation that they updated as we discussed each topic; they were also planning to append thoughts for those of the 10 that we didn't get to.  You should be able to email lkappelman@artsconsulting.com to get a copy.
